This project highlights my contributions towards improving the UX Career Track at Springboard.
Limited collaboration among students in Springboard's industry projects.
Proposed merging students for industry projects at real startups to foster teamwork.
Reduced costs for the business and exposed over 5,000 students to a richer learning experience
Context
Students typically spend 6-8 months working on capstone, sprint, and industry projects. During their industry project, they work as interns for a month at real startups, gaining valuable experience.
Observation
I noticed students often worked alone during industry projects due to limited startup staff, counteracting the intended collaborative experience.
Action
I pitched 2 ideas:
- Merging students for industry projects to promote collaboration and reduce costs for Springboard.
- Collaboration between UI/UX students and software engineers to bring their capstone projects to life.
The first idea was adopted!
Result
Now, all UX students are paired with two others to tackle design challenges, promoting delegation, ownership, teamwork, and effective communication. This approach has been fully adopted and proven highly effective 🎉
